Walter Our founder, Mr. Walter Hopkins

Walter Hopkins and Company, LLP was established in 1927 by our founder, Mr. Walter Hopkins, who was a native of Newfoundland. He came to the United States as a young man and first settled in West Virginia. There  he was employed as an accountant for several estates with timber interests in the state. A few years later, he moved to Clearfield, Pennsylvania where he opened his practice as a public accountant, first as a proprietor and later as a partnership. He continued to practice until his death in 1984 at age 94.

Our firm has grown from those early beginnings until today. We currently have a total staff of 16 people, which includes 4 active partners and 1 retired partner practicing in two offices; Clearfield and Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. Our firm is a member of the PICPA and the AICPA Division of Firms. As a member, we participate in the peer review program to assure that our firm adheres to professional standards of practice as promulgated by the accounting profession. Our last peer review was performed in 2018.
